These portraits and landscapes express her love for a city where her father grew up in Mexico. It showcases the people and places she's seen, the elderly that work tirelessly throughout their life, the land that has given and seen so much through the generations. As we celebrate an commemorate holidays and events in the United States that derive from Mexico, it's important to remember it's origins and it's people with Corazón y Dignidad.
ROSA MARIA ZAMARRÓN
Rosa María Zamarrón is a Chicana Documentary Photographer from Southwest Detroit. She graduated from Grand Valley State University with a B.A in Photography, focusing primarily on Documentary/Photo-journalism. She has exhibited in various cities such as Grand Rapids, New York City, Detroit, Austin, and Rome, Italy. Her work has been in various publications including Hour Detroit Magazine, The Detroit Free Press, and WDET. Rosa Maria is Co-Founder of La Sirena Studio, which is a collaborative female lead studio in Southwest Detroit that provides studio space in the community. She currently lives and works in Detroit, Michigan.
