Zhongou Xu

Zhongou Xu born in 1952, he is a well-known artist and master printmaker in China.  Xu graduated from the Printmaking Department of the Painting Department of the  Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1982. Xu is a member of China Artists Association,  China Printmaker Association, China Arts and Crafts Association, He is a professor of  Central Academy of Fine Arts, former president of School of Urban Design of the  Central Academy of Fine Arts, former vice president of China Printmaking institute of  Chinese Academy of Arts, president of Pan Tianshou School of architecture and art  design of Ningbo University. 

His work has been in many museums’ and institutions’ collections.  In 1994, he was invited to be a visiting professor at the Maryland Institute of Art and  was awarded the lifetime honorary citizen by the city of Baltimore. In 1995, he was  invited to complete a huge portrait of former US President George W. Bush, which was  collected by the Bush Presidential Library in Texas. 

His work titled “The Green Dragon Town” series and the “Mortise and Tenon” series are  in the permanent collections of the British Museum and the British Plank Foundation.  He was awarded the Silver Award of the 10th National Fine Arts Works, the Bronze  Award of the 11th National Printmaking Exhibition, the Excellence Award of the 17th  National Printmaking Exhibition, the “Lu Xun Printmaking award” of the Ministry of  Culture in China… His works are selected by the Polish International Printmaking  Biennale. 

He also serves as a visiting professor at the Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts at Sichuan  Conservatory of Music, a professor at the School of Visual Arts at Sichuan Normal  University, a visiting professor at the School of Art and Communication at Southwest  Jiaotong University, a visiting professor at Southwest University for Nationalities, a  visiting professor at the School of Art at West China Normal University, and a visiting  professor at the School of Fine Arts at China Three Gorges University. , visiting  professor at the Fine Arts Department of Leshan Normal University. 

Professor Xu also has been committed his life to be an art educator. He has been the  advisor of enormous artists and art educators … Many students have been benefited  from his integrity and genuine passion to the life and art.
